New Year, New Me!

Every year it's new year, new me and every year it's been new year, same me. Last year, I decided to stop waiting and just do. It was time for a new me, new year or not. That was when I created this blog. However, as the year came to a close I realized there were so many things I wanted to change in the new year. So here are my top 5 "resolutions" for the new year.

1. Work out more.

In no way, shape or form, am I doing this to lose weight. In 2017, I gained the weight I've been trying to gain all my life. I went from 115 in December of 2016 to 143 in December 2017. My problem is how I gained that weight and where it went. When, I first started gaining weight I was what you call "slim thick". But that quickly changed. The dream butt I had just got started to sag and my flat stomach vanished. One day, I looked in the mirror and saw deep stretch marks on my stomach and was not happy. Recently, my boyfriend suggested we make use of the free gyms in the area together and I decided why not do something about it. So, December 30th, 2017 we went and worked out for an hour. As someone who is not active (unlike my boyfriend who is an avid soccer player) I was extremely sore afterwards but something sparked in me that night that made me want to continue working out. Here's to crunches all 2018!

2. Eat more (and healthier).

Sounds weird, right? Especially since I was just talking about toning my body. This goal is due to the reasons why I gained weight. Last year, I was out of a job for a good chunk of time. With one income and little time on our hands, we often turned to (you guessed it) fast food. Once I got a job, I continued eating out but a lot less and not because I was cooking at home. Most days, my only food was a smoothie and maybe hamburger helper or a McChicken. Not exactly the healthiest of meals. In the new year, I hope to get in my daily caloric intake but in a healthy way (goodbye D.P. Dough and Wings Over).

3. Get back to me.

For those who may not know me, I went to a high school program that lasted five years (it was an early college program). From there, I went straight to college. No summer break at all. For three straight years, I slept, ate, went to class, went to work, ate, slept. There was no time for me. Recently, I decided that this just wasn't the path I wanted anymore and decided to take a gap year before transferring. In this time, I've pretty much followed the same schedule (minus classes) but I realized I was wasting my free time. So I decided I wanted to pick up old hobbies. I found a topic on pinterest to write about and decided to give it a try and post it. To my surprise, there was an overwhelming positive response. People asked for more, for me to make a book, I even had someone tell me it turned their day around. This encouraged me to pick up on my other old hobbies of drawing and reading as well.

4. Be more adventurous./Face my fears.

For years, I have let my anxiety control me. I'm so anxious I won't even get behind the wheel of a car. In a city with public transportation, I thought I'd never need to learn. But let's be real, it's unreliable and sucks. So in 2018, I want to learn to drive but not just that. I want to face all my fears, both irrational and rational. I want to go white water rafting, hiking, skateboarding. Time for me to stop living my life in fear.

5. Post more.

Even though I just started a month ago, I realized I suck at posting regularly. I promised new content every Wednesday and Sunday yet this is only my third post. So in the new year I am going to do better.

I hope you enjoyed reading my resolutions. Tell me some of yours down in the comments and I'll see you guys later this week. Happy New Years!
